Why His “Apology” Is Inadequate

Five days after former Nevada politician, Lucy Flores, published an op-ed accusing possible presidential candidate Joe Biden of inappropriate touching at a 2014 rally, Biden released a public statement addressing the issue. In his statement, Biden, in part, said that he would “be more mindful” about respecting the personal space of others in the future, acknowledging that “social norms have begun to change.”

WTF?

First off, the words “I’m sorry” or “I apologize” never escaped Biden’s lips. Instead, Biden repeatedly reminded his listeners that he had worked hard for women’s rights throughout his political career, stating that he always wanted to be a politician who made “a human connection" with the people.

But his remarks about “social norms" had me scratching my pretty little head. Exactly when was it ever okay for men to sniff women’s hair?

Somehow, I don’t think Biden was born during that era, if that era ever existed. After all, Biden was born in November of 1942 in Delaware. This means that Biden became a grown-ass man way back in 1960 after spending his entire childhood in the United States. Was hair-sniffing a thing back in early sixties America?

And, even if hair-sniffing was indeed a thing during the Eisenhower administration…
