This Day In History: March 20, 1995

Twenty-five years ago today, a Japanese doomsday cult launched a poison gas attack on subway riders in Tokyo, killing thirteen people and injuring thousands. Aum Shinrikyo (Supreme Truth), a religious group which offered up a hodgepodge of Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity, and science fiction to its followers, gradually morphed into an apocalyptic cult. Convinced that he could only save the world by killing all non-believers…
